The DeLuxe Group is responsible for a number of companies which specialise in the importation of Motor Vehicles for re-sale and for the Development of numerous properties throughout the Marlborough Region.

The name DeLuxe has been around in Marlborough for well over 80 years. It was probably best known as a small family business in the 1920s, operating regular town suburban services and plying the route between Blenheim and Picton.

In 1972, DeLuxe was taken over by the Smith Family and grew considerably. We expanded, purchasing Blenheim Coachlines and United Rentals during the 70s. In the 80s, DeLuxe commenced operating Coaches under contract to Kirra Tours an Australian-based Tour Wholesale company. Numerous new Coaches were constructed specifically for this work. In 1990, Kirra Tours was sold with DeLuxe taking a major stake. DeLuxe was a very big part of the Kirra business until March 2009, when it sold its interest.

In 1991, the company expanded into the hospitality sector purchasing the Blenheim Country Lodge Hotel. The hotel was extensively refurbished throughout the 11 years of ownership before being sold to Scenic Circle in 2002.

In 2001, DeLuxe started to specialise in the importing of 2nd-hand buses and other motor vehicles from Japan. This side of our business has grown considerably and today is very much a major part of our operations.

December 2003 saw another significant change for the Company with the sale of the bus operating fleet to Ritchies Transport Holdings.

We make regular trips to Japan and have specialist buyers living in Japan to source the type of vehicles which we are looking for. Although having spent the last few years specialising in Bus and Coach sales, we are now venturing into importing other motor vehicles. Many of these are brought in to order.

If you have a particular type of vehicle that you would like imported then talk with us and we will be more than happy to give you an idea of cost and availability.

DeLuxe Property Division

Over the years we have purchased significant land for future development. These include Marlborough Ridge Resort at Fairhall, Covent Gardens and Nottinghill in Springlands. Another recent purchase has been added to the stable and is currently in the planning stages. News of this development will most porobably not be released until 2010.

Each area has restrictive covenants so as to protect the area and make sure that only the very best of homes and landscaping is developed. Our business philosophy has always been to strive for excellence and our property division will certainly be doing this in the new developments which are taking shape.
