Greg joined the company in 1980 working firstly as a Coach Captain, driving tourists around the South Island of New Zealand. It was not long before he become involved in the companies bus and coach operations, whilst the company operated a fleet of Buses and Coaches.

After this Greg spent almost 9 years managing the Blenheim Country Lodge Hotel - until September 2002 when the hotel was sold to Scenic Circle.

Greg is responsible today for managing the Property Development side of the company along with any future Business developments and opportunities.

Greg is a Trustee of the Smith Family Trust. This Trust owns the property companies within the DeLuxe Group.

Gary Smith
Bus & Coach Sales

Gary joined the company on a full-time basis in 1978. He always worked after school at DeLuxe. Once leaving school, he spent 3 years with the local Ford dealer qualifying as an A-grade mechanic.

Gary is responsible today for the importation of vehicles and for the Bus and Coach sales side of the business.

Gary is also a Trustee of the Smith Family Trust.

Phyl Smith
[ Director ]
Phyl Smith and the late Brad took ownership of DeLuxe Travel Line in 1972. It was very much from small beginnings to a fully fledged travel and hospitality business, before the company changed direction in 2002.

Phyl and Brad had spent many decades in the transport business first starting out in the North Canterbury town of Woodend. Today Phyl is enjoying retirement.

Debbie Stone
Accounts, Admin Manager and Sales

Debbie worked within the Blenheim Country Lodge Hotel, a DeLuxe subsidiary business, for a number of years before joining the DeLuxe Group team.

She has an extensive background in hospitality and travel. Debbie looks after day-to-day accounting issues for DeLuxe Bus and Coach sales, manages the front office reception, assists with preparation work for buses coming in to the Country as well as assisting with customer service in the area of sales.

Ray Walker
Maintenance and Sales

Ray started in the Bus and Coach industry some 32 years ago having worked with Newmans Coachlines in Christchurch. He had considerable driving experience throughout his driving career also owning and operating a Blue Star Taxi in Christchurch, for some 5 years.

In his later years of driving, he joined Explorer Tourline working with smaller tour groups around New Zealand. Ray progressed with Explorer Tourline assisting with the overall running of the company and become the Fleet Manager as coach numbers grew. He was responsible for the maintenance on the vehicles for the last 11 years he worked with the company giving him a vast mechanical knowledge.

At DeLuxe, Ray is responsible for the daily operations of the workshop. When vehicles are imported and received by DeLuxe they go through a very thorough check and service, with any modifications being made for New Zealand certification and conditions. Ray also works in the front line and offers sales assistance for prospective purchasers.

Steve Nyberg
[ Property Manager ]
Steve very much comes from a hospitality background however wanted a change of direction and moved to Blenheim in 2004.

He started his own landscape business and contracted his services to DeLuxe. It was not long before the company adopted Steve on a full time basis.

Steve is responsible today not just for the maintenence of all of the DeLuxe properties but also for the implementation of the landscape plans into the varying subdivisions. Most of the works for the new stages at all of the subdivisions are done internally and coordinated by Steve.
