Motueka is small town just north and about a 35min drive from Nelson City. Busting with artistic creativity and small town energy Motueka is a great place to visit on your RV journeys. It is a bustling town with much to do and many nearby attractions and locations that are a must do. Over the harvest months, Motueka is a busy town. The local fruit orchards and hop growers employ seasonal labour which increases the population. Many visitors also use the town as a supply or stopover point for explorations of the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks. The Sunday Market The vibrant town center and the Sunday Market are a showcase of the regions arts and artisans, with boutique stores and craft stalls spread amongst small cafes, restaurants and food carts, serving up homegrown produce and local fare. A Scenic Haven for RV Travelers Nestled at the gateway to the breathtaking Abel Tasman National Park, Motueka offers an ideal stop for RV travelers seeking natural beauty and adventure. Motueka combines vibrant culture with stunning landscapes, making it a perfect destination for those exploring the great outdoors. Nearby to ever popular Mapua and the absolutely stunning Kaiteriteri Beach, you can bounce around the wider Motueka area for a couple of weeks and not be short of a great view. Nature enthusiasts can take advantage of the surrounding adventures, such as kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking. Cafe Culture is Off the Charts For foodies, Motueka will not disappoint. The towns main street has an abundance of great cafes and restaurants. The Smoking Barrel is famous for its donuts. Some people come to Motueka just to experience these famous donuts, although you will need to be quick as they often sell out before lunchtime. Toad Hall is another great cafe/lunch stop. They also have a deli type store with fresh produce, meats, cheeses and ready to go meals which are great to pack in the RV fridge for your travels onwards. Another great mention is the Sprig & Fern Tavern, one of the many that are dotted around the wider Tasman area. The Sprig & Fern is a classic NZ style pub and offers great food along with beer supplied by their own brewery. Where to stay in Motueka
Motueka has an impressive amount of freedom camping spots, paid campgrounds and PoP's available all close to or within the town. Quite a few are just off the main street, so you can park up and walk in to town for an evening meal. NZMCA Parks There is one NZMCA park in the Motueka town area. So if you are an NZMCA member you can utilise this park located on Old Wharf Road, it is a great spot down a long drive with a walking track right behind. However it can get a bit muddy in winter.
