I have decided to share at least one technical article every month for the rest of the year and will use our brand-new Deluxe How To Operational videos as a guide.
It’s the start of winter and therefore a great time to talk about the frost protection valve in your motorhome. Most motorhomes fitted with a European hot water heating system will also be equipped with a frost protection valve. Essentially the valve pops open when the interior temperature in the vehicle drops below 4 Degrees Celsius and releases water from the pipes and boiler to prevent any damage occurring if the system was to freeze. It’s a great safety mechanism and gives you peace of mind when the vehicle is parked up during the colder months of the year. Whilst using the motorhome/caravan the interior temperature should always be above the limit and therefore the valve will not release. Its most likely to happen when your vehicle is parked up and not in use. Most people will realise the valve has opened either by spotting water on the driveway or when they turn on the water pump and it fails to pressurise, and water continues to flow out below the vehicle when the pump is turned on. Simply turn the pump off and follow the instructions in the video to reset the system and you are ready to go. Tip: If your motorhome or caravan is not fitted with a frost protection valve its vital to empty the system manually prior to parking up your RV during the colder month of the year. www.deluxegroup.co.nz/deluxe-rv-blog/deluxe-how-to-operational-video-resource Comments are closed.
